"Shown are members of the OU football team in 1962. In the front are William Shepard (73), Jim Jones (82), and Gerald Allen (44). In the back are Art Reynolds (40), Roger Sayers (24), and Marlin Briscoe (27). OU's 1962 season of 7-1-1, the best since 1955, included routing Pittsburg State University, defending NAIA champions, 35-0. The team only lost to Northern Illinois 13-7. In the All Sports Bowl in Oklahoma City, it defeated East Central Oklahoma State University 34-21. 'Roger the Rocket' Sayers, a sprinter, defeated Bob Hayes in the 100-yard dash in 1962, 9.5 seconds to 9.7. Hayes set the world record at 9.1 seconds in 1963. Briscoe played for the Denver Broncos, Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, and New England Patriots."
